A highlight of the annual International Auctioneers Conference and Show, the competition first started in 1988 with the first IAC title being awarded to Paul C. Behr, CAI, of Denver, Colorado. The IAC Women's Division began in 1994 and was won by Marcy Goldring-Denburn, CAI, of Farmington, Illinois.
The men and women's division winners of the IAC will receive a cash prize of $10,000, trophy, and will represent the National Auctioneers Association as its spokespeople throughout the year. IAC competitors are judged on their presentation, chant, voice quality, body language and other elements of effective auctioneering. There is also an interview segment of the competition that participants are judged on.
