Auctioneer magazine receives two platinums, five honors overall in 2017 MarCom Awards competition

The NAA magazine has now won 11 platinum or gold awards in the past four years.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (Oct. 27, 2017) – Auctioneer magazine, the official publication of the National Auctioneers Association, earned two platinum, one gold and two honorable mention awards in the 2017 MarCom Awards competition.

The March and August issues, which featured a wine-theme and NAA President Scott H. Shuman, CAI, cover, respectively, were deemed to be platinum worthy. The September issue, which featured the 2017 NAA IAC Men’s and Women’s Champions on the cover, was awarded the gold.

The result marks the first time in the Auctioneer’s history to receive two platinum awards in the same year. Since 2014, every one of NAA’s 13 total entries in the contest have received recognition, earning four platinum awards, seven golds, and the pair of honorable mentions.

Other Platinum winners in other categories this year included groups such as Cerner Corp., National Geographic, PepsiCo, and Morgan Stanley.
“We are thrilled to see that NAA’s signature publication again has been recognized as a benchmark for the media and publishing industry,” said Curtis Kitchen, NAA Director of Communications. “We have developed a tradition in being recognized at this level, and everyone on our team looks forward to continuing to meet and exceed the bar we’ve set for bringing high-quality content to NAA members.”

MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP). It is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

A look at the winners shows a range in size from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies. In the past, about 15 percent of entries won Platinum, the top award and around 20 percent the Gold Award. Approximately 10 percent were Honorable Mention winners.

Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talents exceed a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry. Entries come from throughout the United States, Canada and dozens of other countries.
