Auctioneers raise $15,000 for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital selling tie signed by President Trump at annual conference

On Friday of this year’s 70th International Auctioneers Conference & Show, a necktie signed by President Donald Trump at the 2019 State of the Union address was sold at auction, with proceeds benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

NEW ORLEANS, LA. (July 12, 2019) - On Feb. 5, 2019, following the State of the Union address, National Auctioneers Association (NAA) member and Congressman Billy Long asked President Donald Trump to sign his tie, designed by the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital of Memphis, Tennessee. Long donated the tie to the NAA to be sold at auction during the International Auctioneer Championship at this year’s annual International Auctioneers Conference & Show.

On July 12, 2019, the tie was sold through a simulcast live and online auction by past NAA president Spanky Assiter, CAI, AARE, of Assiter Auctioneers, of Canyon, Texas, to Brigitte Kruse, GPPA, of GWS Auctions, Inc, Beverly Hills, California, for $15,000. All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
