National Auctioneers Association Names Ensminger as New Chief Executive Officer

Aaron Ensminger is the former education director for the NAA and currently executive director of Sertoma, Inc

Overland Park, Kansas (Aug. 11, 2021) — Aaron Ensminger, CAE, former Director of Education for the National Auctioneers Association, and current Executive Director for Sertoma, Inc, has been selected as the incoming Chief Executive Officer of the NAA, according to Terri Walker, CAI, BAS, CES, NAA’s chairman of the Board and chair of the search committee.

Ensminger was selected after a three-month-long process, vetted by a five-member search committee, and presented to the Board this week. NAA’s current CEO, Hannes Combest, FASAE, CAE, gave notice on March 1 of her decision to leave the NAA to pursue her own consulting business. The search committee also engaged Kittleman & Associates, LLC based in Chicago to assist with their search. The committee included: Walker; NAA President Beth Rose, CAI, AARE, AMM; Vice President Sherman Hostetteer, CAI, AARE, BAS, CES, GPPA; Past President Tom Saturley, CAI, and National Auctioneers Foundation President Jennifer Gableman, CAI, ATS.

With nearly 20 years of experience in associations, Ensminger noted that he brings a love of membership, programs, and governance—though not necessarily in that order. Since entering the industry through communications and publications at the International Association of Administrative Professionals, he’s played a key role in every aspect of association management before serving most recently as the Executive Director of Sertoma, a national service club organization. Ensminger also served as the Director of Education for NAA from 2012-2019.

“My love of the auction industry has never waned,” Ensminger said. “I’m thrilled to be able to bring my experience and successes to all aspects of NAA and help serve both auction entrepreneurs and the entire industry by continuing to strengthen NAA’s programs and position as voice of the industry.”

Walker noted that Ensminger’s passion and his tenure as the chief staff officer for Sertoma, made him a great candidate for the position.

“We know that Aaron has great vision for the organization, and it aligns well with what the Board has laid out in PACE to 2030,” Walker said. “While we will miss Hannes, we are thrilled that Aaron’s knowledge of our membership will help him be effective from the beginning of what we anticipate will be a very long tenure.”

Ensminger will begin as CEO Sept. 27, 2021
