Building a Stronger Voice for the Auction Industry
Advocacy starts long before a vote is taken. It starts when people
understand who auction professionals are, how our industry works and
why our voice belongs in the conversation.
The National Auction Association works year-round to strengthen the
auction industry’s voice with policymakers, the public and the
communities our members serve.
Two national initiatives bring that work to life. National Auctioneers
Week helps us tell the story of the profession. National Auction
Advocacy Week takes that story directly to policymakers.
National Auctioneers Week
Celebrate the people behind the profession and help more people
understand the expertise, entrepreneurship and value auction
professionals bring to their clients and communities.
National Auction Advocacy Week
Build relationships with members of Congress and congressional staff
so the auction industry has a voice when decisions affecting our
businesses are being made.
Put the auction profession in the spotlight.
We tell our story.
Each spring, National Auctioneers Week gives auction professionals
across the country a shared opportunity to celebrate the profession
and help others better understand what modern auction professionals do.
It is a chance to showcase the businesses, careers, clients and
communities that make up our industry. Members can highlight their
work, recognize the people behind their businesses and show the public
how auctions create opportunities for buyers and sellers every day.
NAA provides campaign materials that make participation easy, but the
most powerful content comes from members themselves. A photo from an
auction. A story about a client. A look behind the scenes. A few words
about why you chose this profession.
The goal is bigger than a week of social media posts. Every story
shared helps more people understand the auction industry and the
professionals behind it.
Help us tell the story.
National Auctioneers Week works best when members across the country
make the campaign their own. NAA provides the tools. You provide the
stories that make the profession real.

Take the auction industry’s story to Congress.
Every August, members of Congress return to their home districts.
They meet with constituents, hold community events and hear directly
from the people they represent.
National Auction Advocacy Week makes sure auction professionals are
part of those conversations.
NAA members meet locally with members of Congress and congressional
staff to explain how the auction industry works, talk about the issues
affecting their businesses and begin building relationships that can
make a difference when legislation is being considered.
Most lawmakers are not experts on the auction industry. Many have
never had a meaningful conversation with a professional auctioneer.
Meeting someone from their own district gives them context a policy
brief alone cannot provide.
You do not need to be a policy expert or have previous advocacy
experience. You know your business, your clients and your community.
NAA gives you the information and preparation you need to tell that
story effectively.

willing to show up and be part of the conversation.
Five steps. NAA helps with every one.
We provide the roadmap, training and materials. You bring the most
important part: firsthand experience as an auction professional.

In the Spring
We tell our story.
National Auctioneers Week raises awareness of the profession and
helps the public better understand who auction professionals are and
the value they provide.
In August
We take that story to policymakers.
National Auction Advocacy Week turns awareness into influence by
helping auction professionals build direct relationships with the
elected officials who represent them.
Advocacy doesn’t only happen in Washington.
It happens when auction professionals tell their stories, share their
expertise and help others understand the industry we represent. Every
conversation builds awareness. Every relationship strengthens our voice.
And every member who participates helps move the auction industry forward.
